Let’s say you’re at dinner with another couple and each of you order distinctly different entrees (i.e. salmon, lamb, beef and pasta), what type of wine would you order to create a good pairing experience for all?
Impress your guests by ordering a Pinot noir. Pinot noir is one of the most versatile wines when it comes to pairing with different types of food.
Oregon Pinots are especially nice, since the variety of local climates creates many different styles of Pinot. For an earthy, Burgundian style to go with lighter fare like the salmon, you might try St.Innocent Winery. To balance out heavier flavors, such as lamb or beef, a fruit forward Pinot from J.K. Carriere would pair better. Either way, you are more likely to select a wine that goes with most dishes if you choose a Pinot.
